I know most modern era Audi/VW ECU can be recoded so you can use an automatic controller in a manual or vise versa. Just swapping one by plugging it in and thinking it was going to work was the mistake. To do this properly somebody just needs to get a laptop with Ross-Tech software installed and a good OBDII dongle to recode the computer.
